Since 1998, I have led and strategically directed the comprehensive IT security and operational functions required for the Cornell Institute for Social and Economic Research (CISER) to ensure that cutting-edge, high-performance computing services are consistently available for all social science researchers at Cornell, including supporting multidisciplinary work across Cornell and with collaborators worldwide. To accomplish this, I oversee all aspects of IT from the selection process for everything from new hardware and software to complete overhauls to implementation and management for seamless service in an environment with ever-changing needs. As a key member of CISER's senior management team, I am responsible for analyzing benefits and risks of various options and providing information for the development of the unit's strategic operating plans. I oversee the development of internal IT policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring that requirements for multiple environments are being met, including specific attention to meeting security requirements established by restricted data provider agreements executed within the Cornell Restricted Access Data Center (CRADC) and the Office of Sponsored Programs.
